Pool Lifeguard

PREREQUISITES
Please note that there are no unit pre-requisites to enrolling into this course. This course format includes the issuing of HLTAID011 - Provide first aid for candidates who successfully complete all components of this course. 
A medium to high level of aquatic fitness is required for some practical components of the course. Candidates must also be able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on a resuscitation manikin, while kneeling on the floor. Candidates are required to have proficient swimming skills including the ability to perform survival strokes such as lifesaving backstroke and sidestroke.
There is a moderate to high level of reading and writing in this course. ACSF 3 language and reading level required. Candidates who experience language and/or literacy difficulties may identify and request additional learning support through the enrolment process. 

 

AGE REQUIREMENT:
Participants wishing to complete this training are to be 16 years of age or turning 16 in the calendar within which the course is to be held to participate in this course.

USI REQUIREMENT:

Please Note: This course consists of one or more Units of Competency and we assess your performance using a competency based approached, which means you are evaluated on whether you can demonstrate the required skills and knowledge to industry standards.

You will be marked as:

  • Competent (C) - You have met all requirements
  • Not Yet Competent  (NYC) - You need more evidence or practice
Assessment methods may include:
  • Practical tasks or assessments
  • Written questions or responses
  • Third party evidence (e.g. workplace supervisor submissions)

If you are marked Not Yet Competent (NYC), you will receive feedback and along with further opportunities to be reassessed. Our goal is to ensure you're job-ready and confident in your abilities.
