Pool Lifesaving Foundation Coaching

 
The Foundation Coach Course equips teachers, coaches, and instructors with a basic understanding of pool lifesaving sport, including its connection to swimming and lifesaving principles, explanation of core skills and events, and ways to modify pool lifesaving to cater for all abilities and facilities.

RLSNSW invite interested parties to participate in the Foundation Coach Accreditation Co Delivered by High Performance Australian Lifesaving Team Coach Andrew Bowden, together with NSW State Team Coach Tom Simpson, at Waves Aquatic Centre Baulkham Hills on Sunday 13th November 2022, pool entry and lunch included.
 
Royal Life Saving Foundation Coach general competencies:
  • Understanding the values and objectives of Royal Life Saving Society – Australia, and the expectations of those representing or working in roles within the organisation;
  • Understanding of general coaching principles, including safe and inclusive sport;
  • Understanding of basic pool lifesaving sport skills, competition events and equipment;
  • Apply and demonstrate coaching general principles and knowledge of basic pool lifesaving sport skills, events and equipment to plan and deliver appropriate and engaging training sessions.

Delivery Mode:
This interactive course is delivered in a blended format; it requires the completion of self-paced online knowledge component followed by a 1-day practical face to face workshop. The course is comprised of 7 modules including an assessment task (submission of session plan x2). Please allow for 3 hours to complete the Online Learning and 4 hours minimum for the in person practical component.

The Foundation Coach e-learning course aims to provide learners with a basic understanding of:
  • Royal Life Saving’s history and expectations of our people, including coaches.
  • Fundamental pool lifesaving skills, types of events and equipment
  • Preparing session plans to coach pool lifesaving foundation skills
